How the .at zone benefits from the new RcodeZero DNS location (node)

Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) – physical hubs where internet infrastructure companies like network providers connect – are crucial for a registry. Internet Service Providers (ISPs) or companies with large networks, for instance, join forces to help accelerate the internet. By participating in an Internet Exchange Point, we as a registry can also ensure that our services provide high availability and top performance.

.at now represented at all Internet Exchange Points in Austria
The .at zone is now active at every Internet Exchange Point in Austria, helping to enhance internet speed and reliability nationwide. In addition to existing locations in Vienna, Salzburg, and Rheintal, a new node has been established in Klagenfurt to optimize data traffic and reduce latency.

New node for RcodeZero DNS
With the addition of a new Internet Exchange Point in Klagenfurt, we have further enhanced the performance and redundancy of our Anycast service RcodeZero DNS. Currently, 56 nodes across two independent clouds in two autonomous systems (AS) are available to enterprises and registrars. For TLD customers, a cloud with 40 nodes provides even more stability, speed, and resilience against outages. By expanding into strategically important regions worldwide, we ensure faster, more efficient request handling and guarantee 100 % uptime. Furthermore, our RcodeZero DNS network is protected by several leading DDoS providers.

ipcom GmbH, the provider of the Anycast service RcodeZero DNS, is a sister company of nic.at, the official registry for .at, .or.at, and .co.at domains. Since 1998, nic.at has been a trusted and professional operator of the .at zone. The RcodeZero DNS network, developed by nic.at’s technical team, is used by a wide range of top-level domain registries, internet service providers, and enterprises.
